Wedding Reception Dessert Bar Options

Dessert bars are always an awesome addition to any wedding reception. And with all the options we have available in the Quad Cities area, you’re sure to find something everyone will like! Check out these dessert bar ideas and the QCA wedding vendors who can make them happen!

Popcorn

Think of almost any favor from the standard cheese or caramel to the unique, like sriracha, cherry, or green apple. I guarantee you can find exactly what you’re wanting in the QC area.

Cupcakes

Yeah, we’ve seen a lot of cupcakes. But the flavor and allergen flexibility make cupcakes a top choice for a reason.

Cotton Candy

Did you know you can hire a vendor to come to your wedding and spin cotton candy for you? And the huge variety of flavors you can get is super impressive. QC Wed Me staff got to taste test a few flavors back in November. We were huge fans of the maple bacon, strawberry, and cherry options.

Cake pops

These are so customizable to your wedding day themes and colors. You can have the round lollipop-looking ones or the larger popsicle style. Both are equally fabulous and delicious.

Macarons

So luxurious and unique. They’re beautiful and they know it. But macarons are not easy to make and require a skilled baker, hence the sometimes $4 each price tag. *These are generally not allergen safe, as the main ingredients are almond flour and egg whites.

Donuts

Who doesn’t love donuts? You can have so many options, they’re customizable, and they’re adored by the young and old. While anything solid or jelly-filled won’t word on a donut wall, glazed, frosted, old-fashioned, and cake donuts offer a ton of variety.

Pies/ Cheesecakes

We’ve seen these done two different ways— one pie/ cheesecake at each guest table OR miniature versions available in different flavors.

Cookies

Another super customizable and allergen-friendly option. The flavor possibilities are endless and you can totally freeze leftovers to enjoy throughout your first year of marriage.

Candies

Pretty clear glass vases + a handful of trifle bowls + a selection of nuts and candies = a simple, fun dessert bar

Ice Cream Sundaes

These are super fun, but present the obvious challenge of keeping the ice cream cool. Maybe you task someone to dish out and serve ice cream as it’s taken, or maybe you can find a rentable soft serve option. But don’t forget the toppings! All the sprinkles and crushed cookies and candies and sauces make up the best part.

Fruits and a Chocolate Fountain

Imagine a giant table of colorful fruits and a never-ending stream of chocolate. It’s unique, classy, and sure to be remembered. And, yes, you can rent a chocolate fountain in the QC.

Cake/ Trifle/ Mousse Shooters

Imagine little shooter cups or even shot glasses layered with strawberry shortcake or mousse and cake. The options are endless.

Pastries

Mix and match a variety of danishes, èclairs, strudels, cannolis, tarts, and cream puffs on multi-level trays.
