How to Pick a Wedding Date
One aspect of wedding planning that isn’t often given the attention necessary is choosing your wedding date. There are a lot of personal, public, sports, and holiday events to consider. Below is a step-by-step plan for how to pick a wedding date.
(1) Determine the year and season you both would like to have the wedding. Also, clarify whether the day of the week is super important. Are you open to a Friday or Sunday wedding?
(2) If you have any non-negotiable, absolutely must-have vendors, this is the time to reach out to them about their availability. If you’re willing to schedule around them, your options may be limited.
(3) Make a list of possible dates and start doing some research. See below where we’ve done a lot of the research for you. Identify which dates conflict with the following holidays/ events—
College, high school, or family reunions
Job obligations
Local conventions, festivals, fairs, parades, concerts, etc.
Super Bowl/ Final Four March Madness weekends
Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s
(4) Consider the local demand for hotel rooms and cost of wedding vendors when determining which dates/ events to axe.
(5) Select your first pick from the remaining dates and pick a second as a back-up.
(6) Check QC Wed Me vendor availability by completing a short form. Watch your email for a list of available vendors.
(7) Adjust your wedding date, if needed.
